2 – GENERAL INFORMATION

Compatibility
This product has been designed for use with personal protection equipment which meets the applicable standards. Ensure that the elements of the belay system are compatible with one another and that none of the elements in the belay chain affects the operation and safety function of any other elements.
EN 566 standards information: 2017
The loops have a tensile strength of more than 22 kN (tests, meeting the requirements of the standard EN 566: 2017, carried out in the new product laboratory). Pay particular attention to the following points: Moisture, frost or knots on the ring reduce its strength and also make it more difficult to handle. Contact with sharp edges or abrasive surfaces can cause the loop to deteriorate or even break. Contact with chemicals can be harmful to the sling's textile fibres.

3 - FIELDS OF APPLICATION FOR LOOPS

Personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height and belaying falls. This SIMOND product can be used in multiple ways. In this guide, we list the main examples; This is a non-exhaustive list. Please be advised that any use not mentioned in the user guide may result in significant risk of injury or death to the user.

Use as a loop:
Loops can be used to:
- Create a relay between 2 points not connected by a chain (illustration 1),
- Create a belaying point around a rock horn or a tree (illustration 4),
- Extend and anchor point (illustration 5).

Use as a lanyard
SIMOND dynamic loops are designed and made with dynamic ropes that allow for the attachment of the lanyards to belays under optimal safety conditions.
To achieve these safety conditions, you must take the steps required to obey the following two rules:
1-
As far as possible, the lanyard must remain taut 2- The tie-in point must be below the anchor point (illustration 3). It is imperative to never pass above the anchor point of the belay. The force of the impact created by this type of fall can cause serious injuries or death (fall factor higher than 1).
In this use, tie a cow hitch knot: Pass one end of the loop into the harness' tie-in loop, then pass the other end of the loop into the first (illustration 6). At the end of the loop, we strongly recommend using a carabiner with a locking system (carabiner compliant with the standard EN 12275).
Other uses, such as the attachment of a belaying device for rappelling, for example, require a high degree of knowledge and expertise in climbing and mountaineering.

4 – MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Maintenance
To clean your Simond textile products, wash them in warm (30 °C) clean water with a gentle soap. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly to get rid of any soap traces. Leave them to air-dry, away from light and heat sources.
If you have to use your equipment in a salt air environment, make sure that you thoroughly rinse it in clean water after use, then leave it to air-dry.

Storage/Transport
Store your equipment in a dry, ventilated place, away from light. Avoid all contact with chemicals or corrosive substances of any kind, as they would damage the sling. Take care not to expose your sling to temperatures below -40 °C or above +80 °C. So, never leave your harness in a car in the sun, for example.

5 – MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS

Any repair or modification of the product is prohibited. You are strongly advised not buy a second-hand equipment, as its history may false.

6 - CHECKS AND LIFE SPAN

– Checks
Check that your equipment is in good condition before and after use:
Check that there are no cuts or signs of wear on the rope caused by abrasion or burns,
check that the seams are in good condition, and in particular, check for any signs of damage to the seam threads.
A thorough inspection must be carried out at least once a year by a qualified person. Your loop will age over time. Its properties will diminish over time, so remember to replace it regularly.

Lifespan
The maximum lifespan of SIMOND products is issued based on the manufacturing date indicated on the product, information present on the label (B):
- 10 years for slings
The label shows the year of manufacture (4 digits) and the month (2 digits).
This 10-year span may be reduced depending on the frequency and manner in which the product is used.
It may be reduced to single-use in the event of intensive use with friction or excessive strain (stopping a big fall, exposure to chemical products, extreme temperatures, etc.). As long as your lanyard meets the above inspection requirements, then you can use it.
If you have any doubts about the condition of a product, have it checked by a competent and qualified person or destroy it.

7 - GUARANTEE

This SIMOND product comes with a 2-year warranty, starting from the date of purchase, covering any manufacturing defaults.
