Before using this product, you must read and understand all the instructions for use. This product is a dynamic rope for climbing and mountaineering. It is your responsibility to learn the necessary techniques for these activities and to use the equipment correctly. You are also responsible for making sure you're aware of any updates concerning your equipment. Improper use poses additional risks. Do not use this equipment without prior training or if you have any doubts. This user guide has been drafted in compliance with the EN 566 standard: 2017 relating to slings. We cannot envisage all of the incorrect uses of this harness. Hence, any use other than that described in this user guide is strictly prohibited. Failure to respect any of these warnings may result in serious injury or death.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Compatibility
The slings have been designed for use with personal protective equipment meeting current standards. Ensure that the belay system components are compatible with each other and that none of the components of the belay chain affect the operation and safety functions of any other component.
EN 566 standards information: 2017
The slings have a tensile strength of more than 22 kN (tests, meeting the requirements of EN 566: 2017, carried out in the new product laboratory). Pay particular attention to the following points: - Moisture, frost or knots on the ring reduce its strength and also make it more difficult to handle. - Contact with sharp edges or abrasive surfaces can cause the sling to deteriorate or even break. - Contact with chemicals can be harmful to the sling's textile fibres.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION FOR SLINGS

Personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height. SIMOND slings have many uses. In this guide, we list the main examples; This is a non-exhaustive list. Please be advised that any use not mentioned in the user guide may result in significant risk of injury or death to the user. The slings can be used for:

    Please be advised that a sling should not be used to make a lanyard. It does not withstand fall factors of 2! (figure 3).

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Maintenance
To clean your sling, wash it with warm fresh water (30°C) and mild soap. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly to get rid of any soap traces. Leave it to air-dry, away from light and heat sources. If you have to use your equipment in a salt air environment, make sure that you thoroughly rinse it in clean water after use, then leave it to air-dry.
Storage/Transport
Store your equipment in a dry, ventilated place, away from light. Avoid all contact with chemicals or corrosive substances of any kind, as they would damage the sling. Take care not to expose your sling to temperatures below -40°C or above +80°C. Please note that the 10mm sling is more sensitive to heat, the melting temperature of polyethylene is 140°C. So, never leave your harness in a car in the sun, for example.

MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS

Any repair or modification of the product is prohibited. You are strongly advised not buy a second-hand equipment, as its history may false.

CHECKS AND LIFE SPAN

– Checks
Check that your equipment is in good condition before and after use: - Check the sling for cuts and wear caused by abrasion or burns, - Check that the seams are in good condition, in particular that the sewing thread is not damaged. - A thorough inspection must be carried out at least once a year by a qualified person. Your sling is subject to ageing. Its properties will diminish over time, so remember to replace it regularly.
Lifespan
The maximum lifespan of SIMOND products is issued based on the manufacturing date indicated on the product, information present on the label (B): - 10 years for slings The label shows the year of manufacture (4 digits) and the month (2 digits). This 10-year span may be reduced depending on the frequency and manner in which the product is used. It may be reduced to single-use in the event of intensive use with friction or excessive strain (stopping a big fall, exposure to chemical products, extreme temperatures, etc.). As long as your lanyard meets the above inspection requirements, then you can use it. If you have any doubts about the condition of a product, have it checked by a competent and qualified person or destroy it.

GUARANTEE

SIMOND slings have a 2-year warranty, starting from the date of purchase of the product, covering all manufacturing defects. Normal wear and tear as well as any damage resulting from misuse or modification of the product are excluded from the warranty.
