EN 566 standards information: 2017
The slings have a tensile strength of more than 22 kN (tests, meeting the requirements of EN 566: 2017, carried out in the new product laboratory). Pay particular attention to the following points: - Moisture, frost or knots on the ring reduce its strength and also make it more difficult to handle. - Contact with sharp edges or abrasive surfaces can cause the sling to deteriorate or even break. - Contact with chemicals can be harmful to the sling's textile fibres.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height. SIMOND slings have many uses. In this guide, we list the main examples; This is a non-exhaustive list. Please be advised that any use not mentioned in the user guide may result in significant risk of injury or death to the user. The slings can be used for:
- Make a relay between 2 points not connected by a chain (figure 1)
- Make a belay point around a stake or tree (figure 4),
- Extend an anchor point (figure 5).
Please be advised that a sling should not be used to make a lanyard. It does not withstand fall factors of 2! (figure 3).
To clean your sling, wash it with warm fresh water (30°C) and mild soap. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly to get rid of any soap traces. Leave it to air-dry, away from light and heat sources. If you have to use your equipment in a salt air environment, make sure that you thoroughly rinse it in clean water after use, then leave it to air-dry.
Store your equipment in a dry, ventilated place, away from light. Avoid all contact with chemicals or corrosive substances of any kind, as they would damage the sling. Take care not to expose your sling to temperatures below -40°C or above +80°C. Please note that the 10mm sling is more sensitive to heat, the melting temperature of polyethylene is 140°C. So, never leave your harness in a car in the sun, for example.
Any repair or modification of the product is prohibited. You are strongly advised not buy a second-hand equipment, as its history may false.
Check that your equipment is in good condition before and after use: - Check the sling for cuts and wear caused by abrasion or burns, - Check that the seams are in good condition, in particular that the sewing thread is not damaged. - A thorough inspection must be carried out at least once a year by a qualified person.
