BOBCAT shoe spike Instructions

Thank you for purchasing these Simond shoe spike and for placing your trust in us. These instructions explain how to use your equipment properly. For your own safety, read and familiarise yourself with these instructions before use.

INSPECTION
Before, during and after each use, check that your spikes are in good condition. Check for cracks on the metallic parts. Check that fasteners and straps are whole and undamaged (no burns and/or cuts). Check that points are well sharpened. If the points have been resharpened, check that they are long enough. Check for rust on the metallic parts as well as readability of markings on the product. Regular thorough inspection must be performed by a skilled and trained person. The minimum period is twelve months.


LIFESPAN
Metallic parts: the lifespan is not time limited, the spike can be used as long as it complies with inspection requirements.Plastic parts and straps: length of use is ten years after first use, subject to meeting the inspection requirements. This lifespan can be limited to a single use in case of extreme use (fall). If you have the slightest doubt about the material’s integrity, then discard it. All repairs or modifi cations are forbidden. User safety is linked to maintaining the effectiveness and resistance of the equipment. Extremely low temperatures (below -30°C) can weaken the shoe spike (causing them to crack or break). Check your shoe spike regularly and carefully when they are exposed to this type of temperature.

GUARANTEE
SIMOND guarantee lasts for 2 years starting from the day of purchase of the product and against all manufacturing defects. Normal wear and tear, as well as damage caused by poor use or product modifi cation are not covered by the guarantee.

CLEANING – MAINTENANCE
Rince in clear water and dry the shoe spike after each use. You can a little bit of oil (WD40®)on the metallic parts to prevent rust. Remove the excess of product on the plastic parts. If the slings are wet, let them dry away from any source of heat. Always sharpen the edges of the points, never the sides. Use a file, never use a grinder that may damage the heat treatment. 

STORAGE 
Store the shoe spike in a dark, dry and well-ventilated place, avoiding exposure to light. Keep them away from heat sources. Avoid any contact with chemicals (acid, bleach, oil, petrol, diesel, solvents, etc.)

TRANSPORT
The shoe spike must be carried in a protective cover. Be careful not to hurt yourself or anyone else when attaching your shoe spike to a backpack.
