Additional information

Fabric waterproofing
We measure a fabric's resistance to a water column, in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure resistance, the more waterproof the fabric. Components with 2000 mm waterproof rating can resist 2000 mm of water pressure (which is roughly equivalent to a rain shower lasting 2 hours). With waterproofing greater than 10 000 mm, the Mountaineering light jacket offers an extremely high level of waterproofing.
Product's waterproofing
The jacket's waterproof was tested in a rain shower with 100 litres of water / sqm / hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy mountain downpour.
Fabric breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporate resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more moisture, generated by an active body, is evaporated, and therefore the higher the fabric's breathability. We consider that if: - RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric - 9<RET<12 = breathable fabric - RET > 12 = slightly or not breathable fabric The jacket's fabric has a RET of 8
Garment breathability
On top of the main fabric's breathability, the choice of including mesh lined pocket helps to improve the jacket's thermal comfort, whilst helping to create air flow inside jacket by opening pockets.
The jacket's hood size makes it compatible with a mountaineering helmet. It is height and depth adjustable according to your needs. A semi-rigid visor offers better forehead and eye protection. The high collar provides protection for the lower part of your face.
Pocket and Zip
Outer shell: 2 large pockets that fasten with taped zips. The pockets are positioned on chest, making it easier to get access to them when wearing a harness. Inner jacket: 1 mesh net zip pocket Two-way front zip allows you open jacket bottom up, giving you quick access to harness tie-in loop. The zip pulls are easier to handle with gloves.
Product care
Machine wash at 30°CUse washing powder, but not a softener. Close zips and adjust cuffs before putting in machine. Reactive water repellency with adequate treatment after each wash. A whole range of specially made waterproof and breathable fabric care products are available in our Decathlon stores. Making use of these helps to optimise the effectiveness of your garment throughout their life cycle.

    Mountaineering light jacket.

Comfy. Found jacket to be lacking in breathability, got damp on inside from not too heavy perspiration. Could be better.

    Hood not fit for purpose

This is a great attempt at a quality lightweight jacket. Unfortunately the hood doesn’t stand up to any significant level of wind. The goggles that grip the cords for tightening loosen off and you have to keep adjusting them as wind bellows in the hood! Also the hem with the cord on the front blocks your vision if your not wearing a helmet.

Smaller hem at front of hood and a more effective lock on the cords would sort the problem and this would be an awesome jacket for the price! Will have to return.

    Brand response :

    Hello Niall,

Thank you for reviewing the Men's Mountaineering Light Jacket.

I am sorry to hear that Men's Mountaineering Light Jacket did not meet your expectations in regards to the hood design. The hood is designed to be compatible with a helmet which may account for some of the issues you have encountered. I have passed on your feedback directly to the Brand.

    Kind Regards

    Excelente Chaqueta
