    Makalu sleeping bag review

I used it in a trek in sikkim. Its a very warm sleeping bag but the only problem with it is that while sleeping the down benathe you moves out to other places in the bag and after some time your back is cold, it may be because there are no seams to hold the down to its place benathe your back. I want a solution to the problem. Please suggest.

    Brand response :

    Hi Sourav,

Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your query about the Simond Makalu II down sleeping bag. I am sorry to hear that the sleeping bag did not meet your expectations.

Would you tell me if you had a sleeping mat/pad underneath the bag? The down movement is prominent without an insulating layer beneath and also the user finds it more cold without this layer.
I have the same sleeping bag and I used it on several occasions including Kang Yatse II, Koa Rong III and Rigoni Malai but I do make sure that I have the M200 foam mat underneath for better ground insulation.

Regarding the seams of the sleeping bag, it's a tricky balance to achieve as too many seams means too many cold spots and too less means more down movement. Therefore we test multiple prototypes with different designs in lab as well as real conditions by partner mountain guides/users and the final version is validated after it passes the European Norms and user test both. However we strive to improve our products each day and therefore I will pass your feedback to our design team and product engineers for them to look into your concerns.

Once again thank you for your valuable time.

I am available should you have any more questions or doubts.
