A backcountry skiing collection

Cycling from Chamonix to ski above the Arctic circle

Freezing toes, burnt legs, frozen mustache, red nose.

From the mountains of Chamonix to the silent reaches of the Arctic, Jean Rouaux traveled 4,300 km by bike and climbed 8,000 meters on skis, carrying only what he needed and relying solely on his own power. Step into his journey.

“The weather isn’t giving us the best skiing conditions, that’s for sure. That’s the reality when you choose to travel by bike, it’s not as simple as heading straight to a resort. This is a slower journey, where every turn is earned and every moment on the mountain has to be fought for. It’s a different kind of adventure.”

- Jean Rouaux, Simond athlete

"After skiing my first lines in Norway, I know they weren’t perfect, but what a bliss to win those curves through all my efforts, through every kilometres I’ve covered. That’s a true gift. Feeling the snow beneath my skis, knowing I’ve worked hard to get there."

- Jean Rouaux, Simond athlete
