2025 : Ascent of Mont Blanc (4 808 m)

From August 25 to 28, 2025, four Cholitas -Ana Lia (Liita), Estrella, Heydi, and Dora - reached the summit of Mont Blanc via the historic route in their polleras.

2019 : Aconcagua (6 962 m)

On January 23, 2019, the Cholitas became the first Aymara women to reach the summit of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas, all while wearing their traditional attire.

The Cholitas Escaladoras (Khunu) are a collective of Bolivian indigenous women (Aymara and Quechua) who bring together tradition, mountaineering, and social activism. In August 2025, Ana Lia, Estrella, Heydi, and Teodora, guided by Agustin and Aldo Riveros, climbed Mont Blanc via the historic route, wearing colorful polleras - their traditional skirts. This challenging ascent highlights their determination to break gender stereotypes and showcase their culture atop the peaks of the Alps.
